PALM-OIL
Although on a downward trend for most of 2011, the average palm-oil price (Rotterdam cif) was substantially higher, at US$1,123 per tonne, compared with US$905 in 2010. The price has been on an upward trend in the early part of 2012.
BEEF-CATTLE
Australian beef-cattle prices remained reasonably steady at historically-firm levels during 2011 as the US herd shrank to its lowest level for 60 years.
