Biogas generation

The Group’s mills in Kalimantan and Bangka capture methane from mill effluent.

This methane is used to fuel a biogas engine which generates electricity for office compounds and housing in workers’ villages in the vicinity of the mill, giving rise to a significant reduction in the use of diesel for the generators which would otherwise have been needed. The Group sells surplus electricity to the state electricity company in both Kalimantan and Bangka.
